        摘要

        尽管公共卫生常常被概念化为预防身体疾病,但是最近数据提示,精神疾病在疾病预防和推广健康使命中的意义正在逐渐加大。预计到2020年,抑郁症将仅次于心脏病,成为造成全球负担最重(以残疾调整寿命衡量)的第二大疾病。而且,随着人群老龄化,将以老年人连续分组来划分美国人口中这一不断增多的组分。我们报告了老年人中抑郁症的诊断标准、流行程度以及风险因素;相关公共卫生健康干预措施的成本效率;以及这些疾病对于公共卫生的含义。
