Division of State and Local Readiness Webinars

DSLR hosts monthly, hourlong, live webinars. The webinars serve to educate and provide information and guidance, expert advice, resources, and technical assistance to state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) public health officials.
August 9 PHEP Connects Webinar
The Impact on Public Health Due to Power Outages – Part II
During this webinar, presenters will discuss how power outages related to emergencies such as wildfires, hurricanes, and winter storms, whether planned or unplanned, create significant challenges for federal, state, and local communities. In addition, participants will learn how PHEP jurisdictions can leverage best practices, identify planning actions, and mitigation measures. Speakers will demonstrate how the use of preparedness strategies, new data and health information technology capabilities, tools, and resources help prevent adverse health impacts from power outages.
CDC’s next PHEP Connects webinar entitled “Public Health and Educational Agencies Working Together to Improve Community Preparedness” is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, November 8. This webinar will discuss the benefits of establishing and maintaining public health and educational agencies partnerships. The presentation will also highlight emergency preparedness work with schools, the intersection between public health and schools, and logistics of working with schools to improve community preparedness.

DSLR schedules 90-minute informational calls or webinars each month to provide program updates to PHEP cooperative agreement recipients and other partners. ASPR’s Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) cohosts a call each quarter. ASPR provides the audience information related to their cooperative agreement.
With the issuance of new cooperative agreements or continuation guidance, DSLR often hosts special informational webinars. These provide PHEP recipients with updated or additional eligibility or reporting requirements. DSLR also hosts webinars in coordination with CDC’s grants management office. During public health responses, DSLR often hosts meetings to provide technical assistance on response related funding requirements that may impact reporting or timelines.
