Intervention Research

Guided by the National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States, CDC provides national leadership and support for the implementation of a high-impact prevention approach to reducing new HIV infections by using combinations of scientifically proven, cost-effective, and scalable interventions and prevention strategies directed towards the most vulnerable populations in the US who are most affected by, or at greatest risk for, HIV infection. Effective Interventions

Interventions and strategies with evidence of effectiveness from the Compendium are used to support the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. initiative. The highest-impact HIV prevention, care, treatment, and outbreak response strategies are scaled up to provide the biggest impact.

Compendium

The Evidence-Based Interventions (EBIs) and Best Practices in the Compendium are identified by the CDC’s Prevention Research Synthesis (PRS) Project through a series of ongoing systematic reviews.

Replicating Effective Programs (REP)

The programs in REP are tested, science-based behavioral interventions with demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in reducing risky behaviors, such as unprotected sex, or in encouraging safer ones, such as using condoms and other methods of practicing safer sex.
