The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics announces the first funding opportunity to 13 national awardees to participate in the Outbreak Analytics and Disease Modeling Network (OADM Network).

CDC released the first fall and winter respiratory disease season outlook, sharing expectations for the severity of COVID, RSV, and influenza hospitalizations for the 2023 season.

CFA delivered four groundbreaking technical reports during the mpox outbreak in the United States, including jurisdictional outbreak trajectory estimates to six jurisdictions with the largest disease burden – a first for CDC. Reports offered timely and actionable information – essential data about the mpox outbreak, including incidence rates, factors influencing incidence, transmission levels, and potential trajectories for future outbreaks.

CFA has supported the Division of Viral Diseases in forecasting COVID-19 hospitalizations. These ensemble forecasts for COVID-19 hospitalizations provide early warning, giving leaders time to prepare for surge and planning activities to prevent infections.

In August of 2022, CFA helped NCIRD on their Children with Hepatitis of Unknown Cause technical report.
