Increasing Physical Activity in Under-Resourced Communities Through School-Based, Joint-Use Agreements, Los Angeles County, 2010–2012

The figure consists of a map of Los Angeles County showing the density of park area per 1,000 residents across the county and indicating where joint-use agreements are located in relation to these park areas. The largest concentration of park area 1,000 residents is along the western and northern sides of the county. One joint-use-agreement school site is in the western side of the county near Santa Monica, and 5 are in the northern side in Pasadena. Areas with the least amount of park space fall in the center of the county. Nineteen joint-use-agreement school sites are in this area, in Compton, El Monte, and downtown Los Angeles. In addition, there are 27 joint-use-agreement school sites in Pomona in the northeastern area of the county, an area with a moderate amount of park space.

Figure. School sites with the Joint Use Moving People to Play Task Force-assisted joint use agreements, by city or community and by park areas per 1,000 residents. Map of Los Angeles County prepared by the Office of Health Assessment and Epidemiology in the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
