        ORIGINAL RESEARCH

Promoting Fruit and Vegetable Consumption Among Members of Black Churches, Michigan and North Carolina, 2008–2010

The figure consists of a flow diagram depciting the recruitment and selection process for the 2 study arms, the Body and Soul arm and the colon cancer screening intervention arm. Information is arranged in a vertical flow diagram. Forty churches were contacted initially; 14 declined or did not respond and 26 expressed interest. Of the 26 that expressed interest, 7 did not meet eligibility criteria (4 in North Carolina and 3 in Michigan), leaving 19 churches enrolled (12 in North Carolina and 7 in Michigan). The 19 churches were randomized to participate in either the Body and Soul arm of the study (n = 9) or in the colon cancer screening arm (n = 10). One church dropped out of the study after the baseline survey completion, leaving 8 churches to complete the Body and Soul program (4 in North Carolina and 4 in Michigan).
