        ORIGINAL RESEARCH
A Cost-Benefit Analysis of Lipid Standardization in the United States

The logic model is a structured flow chart depicting program elements with arrows showing associations and causal pathways. The logic model flows from left to right with columns for inputs, activities, participation, and short-, medium-, and long-term outcomes. Arrows depict relationships between program elements in the same column group or the next group to the right.

Figure 1. Lipid Standardization Program (LSP) and Cholesterol Reference Method Laboratory Network (CRMLN) logic model. Abbreviations: CDC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; NHLBI, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; PI, principal investigator; QALY, quality-adjusted life-year.
