Since April 26, 2009, a total of 282 influenza-associated pediatric deaths associated with 2009 influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been reported. Since August 30, 2009, a total of 273 influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2009--10 influenza season have been reported. A total of 134 influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2008-09 influenza season have been reported. ¶¶ Of the two measles cases reported for the current week, one was imported, and one was indigenous. * Data for meningococcal disease (all serogroups) are available in Table II. ††† CDC discontinued reporting of individual confirmed and probable cases of 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus infections on July 24, 2009. CDC will report the total number of 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) hospitalizations and deaths weekly on the CDC H1N1 influenza website (http://www.cy118119.com/h1n1flu). In addition, three cases of novel influenza A virus infections, unrelated to the 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus, were reported to CDC during 2009. §§§ In 2009, Q fever acute and chronic reporting categories were recognized as a result of revisions to the Q fever case definition.
