Since April 26, 2009, a total of 232 influenza-associated pediatric deaths associated with 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been reported. Since August 30, 2009, a total of 212 influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2009--10 influenza season have been reported. A total of 130 influenza-associated pediatric death occurring during the 2008-09 influenza season have been reported. * No measles cases were reported for the current week. ^??? Data for meningococcal disease (all serogroups) are available in Table II. ^§§§ CDC discontinued reporting of individual confirmed and probable cases of novel influenza A (H1N1) viruses infections on July 24, 2009. CDC will report the total number of novel influenza A (H1N1) hospitalizations and deaths weekly on the CDC H1N1 influenza website (http://www.cy118119.com/h1n1flu). ^???In 2008, Q fever acute and chronic reporting categories were recognized as a result of revisions to the Q fever case definition. The figure shows selected notifiable disease reports for the United States with comparison of provisional 4-week totals December 12, 2009, with historical data. According to the figure, reports of giardiasis, acute hepatitis A, acute hepatitis B, acute hepatitis C, measles and pertussis all decreased. Reports of legionellosis, meningococcal disease and mumps all increased, with mumps increasing beyond historical limits.
