Seventy four influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2009--10 influenza season beginning August 30, 2009 have been reported. One hundred and seventeen influenza-associated pediatric death occurring during the 2008-09 influenza season have been reported. * No measles cases were reported for the current week. ??? Data for meningococcal disease (all serogroups) are available in Table II. §§§ CDC discontinued reporting of individual confirmed and probable cases of novel influenza A (H1N1) viruses infections on July 24, 2009. CDC will report the total number of novel influenza A (H1N1) hospitalizations and deaths weekly on the CDC H1N1 influenza website (http://www.cy118119.com/h1n1flu). ??? In 2008, Q fever acute and chronic reporting categories were recognized as a result of revisions to the Q fever case definition. Reports for giardiasis, acute hepatitis A, acute hepatitis B, acute hepatitis C, meningococcal disease and pertussis decreased. Reports for legionellosis, measles and mumps all increased.
