Fifty-three influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2009--10 influenza season beginning August 30, 2009 have been reported. One hundred and sixteen influenza-associated pediatric death occurring during the 2008-09 influenza season have been reported. * The one measles case reported for the current week was imported. ??? Data for meningococcal disease (all serogroups) are available in Table II. §§§ CDC discontinued reporting of individual confirmed and probable cases of novel influenza A (H1N1) viruses infections on July 24, 2009. CDC will report the total number of novel influenza A (H1N1) hospitalizations and deaths weekly on the CDC H1N1 influenza website (http://www.cy118119.com/h1n1flu). ??? In 2008, Q fever acute and chronic reporting categories were recognized as a result of revisions to the Q fever case definition. Prior to that time, case counts were not differentiated with respect to acute and chronic Q fever cases. ** No rubella cases were reported for the current week. ???? Reports of giardiasis, acute hepatitis A, acute hepatitis B, acute hepatitis C, meningococcal disease and pertussis all decreased. Reports of legionellosis, measles and mumps all increased.
