Availability of National HIV Serosurveillance Summary -- Results through 1992

CDC collaborates with state and local health departments, other federal agencies, blood-collection agencies, hospitals, and medical research institutions to conduct human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) seroprevalence surveys and studies in selected populations. These activities constitute a serosurveillance network to monitor the prevalence of HIV infection in the United States. These surveys monitor various populations, including persons at increased risk (e.g., persons attending drug-treatment centers and sexually transmitted disease clinics) and broader populations (e.g., applicants for military service and childbearing women) (Figure_1).

Single copies of National HIV Serosurveillance Summary -- Results through 1992 (1) are available free from the CDC National AIDS Clearinghouse, P.O. Box 6003, Rockville, MD 20849-6003; telephone (800) 458-5231.
