Emory Meeks, BS, is chief of the Information Systems Branch in the Division of Health Informatics and Surveillance (DHIS). He has a distinguished career spanning 35 years and multiple centers at CDC.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Meeks served as the DHIS Preparedness Portfolio Manager, where he provided overarching business-level leadership for preparedness-related projects within the division.
Before joining DHIS, he served in several positions across CDC:
- as a molecular biologist in the Division of Viral and Rickettsial Diseases, National Center for Infectious Diseases, performing research on the Hepatitis C virus;
- as a public health advisor and team lead in the Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Program, where he provided biological laboratory technical guidance to the Laboratory Response Network;
- as the laboratory informatics systems program manager in the Public Health Informatics and Technology Program Office, where he oversaw a variety of interagency and agency-wide laboratory-related informatics efforts;
- as the laboratory informatics lead within the Laboratory Science, Policy, and Practice Program Office; and
- as the acting division director for the Division of Informatics Solutions and Operations, which included a portfolio of informatics and information technology solutions that supported public health information exchange.
