        Talking Parents, Healthy Teens: A Worksite-based Program for Parents to Promote Adolescent Sexual Health

        This theoretical model shows the relationship between parent朼dolescent interactions and adolescent behaviors. The model reads from left to right. The first half of the model is bracketed and labeled 揚ARENT,?and the second half of the model is bracketed and labeled 揂DOLESCENT.?

        The 揚ARENT?half begins with a circle at the far left that is labeled 揑ntervention.?This circle points to the right to three boxes. The first of these three boxes is titled 揝kills?and lists three intervention skills for parents: 揑nvolvement,?揗onitoring,?and 揅ommunication.?The second box lists five key points including 揝elf-efficacy,?揚erceived norms,?揅ost/benefit ratio,?揚ersonal standards,?and 揈motional response.?The third box is labeled 揈nvironmental Barriers and Facilitators.?All three of these boxes point to a small box labeled 揑ntentions?which points back to the first and third boxes. The first and third boxes, along with the box labeled 揑ntentions,? point to a large rectangular box titled 揚arent-Adolescent Relationship Outcomes?that lists these three outcomes: 揇iscussions: General [and] Sex-related,?揅onnectedness,?and 揅onflict.?

        The 揚arent-Adolescent Relationship Outcomes?box marks the end of the 揚ARENT?bracket at which point the 揂DOLESCENT?half of the model begins. It points to the right to three other boxes. The first of these three boxes is titled 揝kills?and lists three intervention skills for adolescents: 揂ssertiveness,?揇ecision-making,?and 揘egotiating.?The second box lists five key points including 揝elf-efficacy,?揚erceived norms,? 揅ost/benefit ratio,?揚ersonal standards,?and 揈motional response.?The third box is labeled 揈nvironmental Barriers and Facilitators.?All three of these boxes lead to a small box labeled 揑ntentions?which points back to the first and third boxes.
